Sky Q / Fibre Max issues

Since having my broadband upgraded to fibre max and getting the new router I've had numissues with buffering on Netflix, Disney + BT sport etc the main Sky Q box is hard wired to the router. Now I have Disney + on my TV and don't get the buffering issues on that so can only assume it's an issue with the SkyQ apps? Also when the engineer was doing the installation he left before ensuring the Q Mini box was connected, I've been unable to get it connected for more than 1 min before I get a message saying connectivity issue.

Hi @C99

With the Sky Max  Router the mini must connect by WiFi to the Q box and not the router.

Carry out a Network Reset on the mini.
Network Reset found in mini Home - Settings - Setup - Network.
Highlight Status and then select Reset on the right hand side. Follow instructions to WPS with main Q box.
You will be asked to press the WPS button on the main Q box (not the mini as the Network reset will start the mini WPS automatically).

Re: Sky Q / Fibre Max issues

That's for your replay however ive done it both ways and end up with the same result once the mini box is connected 😕

And the Q will randomly use wifi if you don't disable it even though it's hard wired

Re: Sky Q / Fibre Max issues

The wifi is disabled on the main box the mini boxes are the only ones that need to be connected by WiFi. I read that the newer router doesn't have Sky Q mesh, could this be part of the issue as I never had this problem when I had the older black router?

Hi @C99

As I said in my previous post the mini must connect to the WiFi of the main Q box and not the Max router.

If you have the main Q box WiFi switched off then the minis will not be able to connect.

You can't disable wifi if the minis want to use it.

Try enabling just 5GHz on the Q. Another poster suggested that worked for him. (it wants to use that band for the internal/mini mesh and wants to use 2.4 for the internet connection so with that disabled it might force it to stay on ethernet that side)
