Hi
I have just upgraded to Disney premium and it constantly buffers which makes it impossible to watch, I have updated my skyQ 2tb box software and it has an Ethernet connection to the box running at just under 500kb, I'm not sure how old the box is but my guess would be around 10 years +
I would welcome any suggestions. But I assume I need a new sky Q box, which I'm not particularly happy with as I have lots of film etc which I would like to retain.
any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
thanks
Andrew

Disney+ is quite a memory hungry app, and Sky Q is decade old technology with minimal memory.
You are much better off using the Disney+ app on your smart TV or on a proper dedicated streaming device. Sky Q is an excellent satellite recording device, but is painfully mediocre with streaming apps.

Re: Sky Q Disney premium
First off, it's unlikely (not impossible, but just unlikely) that swapping out the box would magically fix the problem, that should be the very, very, last resort after trying hundreds of things, not the go-to solution. As you say, it is highly distuptive.
It's more often a configuration issue. Do you have a Netflix account? If so you can use the Netflix "speed test" which is in the "help" menu of the Netflix app running on the SkyQ box to check the actual network speed the box is getting.
I do not have a sig other than this message. SkyQ.

Re: Sky Q Disney premium
I assume you mean 500Mb? The Q only needs about 25Mb for 4k HDR streaming on Disney+ but I've probably had more buffering on that app than any other on the Q.

hi @carlton18
All SKY Q boxes are several years old.
As @mr.tickle mentions a change of box is unlikely to solve your problem.
As @Angel_Aka says, using the apps on either a Smart TV or a dedicated device such as a Firestick or Apple TV box is much more likely to be a better solution & much more likely to be more responsive (and in the case of many apps - including Disney+ - provide Dolby Vision when subscribing to premium tiers)
(Personally I use Firesticks - I only using the SKY Q apps for activation or to test things)

Re: Sky Q Disney premium
One thing you could try is a reset of your box :
press Home
Scroll to Settings - but do not press enter/select at this point
Press 0 0 1 in sequence followed by the Enter/ select button
you should now get the engineer's menu
Select Reset And Select the first Reset - Do Not select the 2nd & 3rd as those will loose any recordings you do have
Once you have reset your box you will need to re-pair your remote
To re-pair the remote press & hold 1 & 3 together & follow the on screen instructions - make sure it has line of sight of the box
(You will also need to set up any Favourite channels again)

Again I can only repeat - very unlikely. The apps I've used on my SkyQ (a so-called "version 3" 1TB box which does HDR without the bugs) are still slow and laggy compared with my 2018 LG TV's slick fast running of the same apps: iPlayer, Disney+, HBO Max. They run, but it's not a pleasant user experience.
I can't test full-quality 4K HDR Disney+ on it for you though as I only have the bundled HD-with-ads option currently.
Back to the first question which you missed: Do you have a Netflix account?
