I've just spoken to a really unhelpful guy at Sky so thought I'd try here to see if someone can advise me on what to do.
Earlier today my Sky Q remote control suddenly stopped working so I changed the batteries. Still no good. I went through all the trouble shooting on the Sky website, still nothing. I then noticed I had one amber light on my Sky Q box. Checked all connections, turned everything off, followed all of the trouble shooting etc. The box would retstart, I'd get the various screens, press the home button etc, I'd see the blue Q on the box but then the standby button would eventually turn amber again and the remote control won't work with it.
I've ordered a new box and remote control, and then in frustration called Sky.
The guy I spoke to talked me through several steps in settings, one of these was hold down the numbers 1 & 3 for 10 seconds which I duly did. The remote and box started working again but then I had the message that I had no satellite signal. I was told that the signal can't be restored because I've ordered a new box!!! I asked to cancel the new box so that my signal could be restored and was again told no, he couldn't do that! Does anyone know if there's anything I can do to restore the signal or speak to someone at Sky who might be more helpful and polite? I really don't want a new box if I can avoid it as I have so many recordings that I want to watch and don't want to lose.
Any help or advice would be so appreciated.
Rachel
