Is it possible to have one mini box connected by wifi to the Q box, and another by ethernet cable? I have run a cable directly from the Q box ethernet port to the mini box ethernet port. I then went through network settings on the mini box to connect, disabled wifi, and selected ethernet, but it cannot allocate an IP address - understandable as it is not connected to a router. Surely I can connect directly from Q to mini without going through my router (which is BT)? BTW the wifi mini is working fine.
Are there some settings I am missing, or perhaps my setup procedures are not correct.
Thanks in advance.

@Swegs The main SKYQ box should be connected to your router via wifi or ethernet, the Mini box needs to connect to the same broadband network as the main SKYQ box, either by wifi to the Main SKYQ box wifi mesh, or by ethernet to the router.

Hi @Swegs You will need to ethernet your Mini box to your router, not the main SKYQ box.
Yes you can have a Mini box connected by wifi, and one connected by ethernet.

@Quoman7 I have done this and all works. Thanks.
Strange though when the Q box is powered off/on both mini boxes (wifi and ethernet) show technical fault and they too need to be powered off/on to reset connectivity.

@Swegs The main SKYQ box should be left on standby, and not powered off!

@Swegsall three boxes form a "mesh" network with the SkyQ box at the heart of it.
Only the Q box has the necessaries to allow you to watch content (the viewing card to decode the programmes for example).
Thats why the main Q box must be on for the mini boxes to operate.
Hope that helps.

I've got 3 mini boxes connected directly to the Sky Q Box using the ethernet port and then using a splitter

I have a samsumg smart tv that either needs a usb wifi adapter putting in its USB port (an adapter I don't have) to connect to my house wifi (sky WiFi and sky q with 1x WiFi connected mini box in the bedroom.) or the tv needs a ethernet cable plugging in to it.
The TV is sat next to the minibox in the bedroom, can I run an ethernet cable from the TV to the minibox and tell the Tv's menu that it has a wired ethernet connection.?
Will this enable the TV to operate its smart tv functions ia my house Wi-Fi.?
