Sky Changed MY Satellite LNB

Hi,

I own a property that I rented out. I've now taken control of the property and moved my parents into it. The property is a new build and I paid for media plates to be installed in a number of rooms that includes 2 Satellite connectors on each media plate. I also paid for a satellite dish so that the developers could connect them all up meaning there'd be no need for anyone to touch the satellite dish as everything should work straight away.

How ever a Sky Engineer has changed the LNB on my dish from an 8 output to a 2 output, therefore has disconnected all the other rooms leaving just 1 room connected. I can see all the cables still coming out the roof and it looks like they've been taped up with some black tape.

I rang Sky yesterday (I'm not a customer) and they said they could get an engineer out OR raise a complaint because I'm not a customer. He then said he'll put me through to the "Engineer Complaints" department. I was on hold for 2hrs!! and then I have up waiting any more.

I want Sky to come back to my property and install an 8 output LNB they took off and reconnect all the rooms. They didn't have permission from me to do so, the equipment doesn't belong to Sky and shouldn't of been touched.

Any costs incurred they'll have to claim back from the Tenants if the tenants said they had permission to do the work which they didn't. That's even if Sky asked the tenants if they had permission. Sky had a Contract with the tenants and not with myself.

2 options for Sky, you either come and reverse what you've done without consent. Or I get this sorted myself and take you to the small claims court to recoup the costs of getting someone to do this.

I also have a screenshot of my being on the phone for 2hrs and 30mins (2hrs of it waiting to be connected to your engineer complaints department).

Please someone message me, I'm not ringing again and waiting a ridiculous amount of time again.

@Wookie192
There will be no automatic contact from Sky due to you posting on here as this is primarily a customer helps customer forum and you’re not talking to Sky Customer Services. They won't call you I'm afraid.

You aren't addressing Sky here - just other customers.

In my view, your recourse is with your tenants and not directly with Sky.

Re: Sky Changed MY Satellite LNB

Does anyone have a contact number for complaints? I want to get this sorted asap but I don't want to ring the normal number only to be told they can't do anything because I'm not a customer 😞

@PandJ2020 my complaint is with Sky as they are the ones who did the work, not the tenants. It's then down to Sky to recoup the costs from their customer (the tenants) if they gave permission for the work to be done when they shouldn't have as Sky have a Contract with them, not myself.

@Wookie192

There is no direct number. You need to complete the form in the link provided by @GD1 although I'm not sure how that'll play out with you not being a Sky customer.

I don't know of any 8 output LNB that would be suitable for Sky Q. I suspect it would work only with Sky+ which is no longer on sale, except in specific circumstances. I agree with @PandJ2020 that it's your tenants you need to speak to about the work, as they will have authorised it.

@Wookie192 in all fairness to the Sky Engineer your tenant was at fault for not asking your permission in the first place

Are you also at fault by not making this clear in tye tenancy agreement explaining what equipment could or could not be attached regardless of a Satellite Dish being in place.

Was the 8 output suitable for Sky Q,  Sky + HD,  Freesat etc etc

But again it's down to the previous tenant to rectify not Sky's

In your own words the tenant never sought permission

Hi @Wookie192   Please keep us updated, I'll give you about 1% chance of success, but you never know. Your old tenants accepted the terms and conditions which state that they have the property owners permission and the contract is with them, not you. It sounds like they broke the tenacity agreement.

@Wookie192  Definitely sounds to me like any legal argument would have to be between you and your tenant; assuming you have it in their tenancy agreement that they couldn't contract with Sky without your permission, or that they lied to Sky by saying that you had agreed.

@Wookie192

That's the inevitable result of the occupants ordering Sky Q: as noted above, an octo LNB is only viable for Sky+ HD (no longer a product for new users) or Freesat.

A Sky installer can only take the word of the occupants of a property when they arrive to do a job: they have no way of knowing your relationship with the address.  Your dispute is with your tenants.
