Sky Apps rail

Here's an idea for the Sky apps rail ( I have Sky Q, so it may be different for Glass & Stream ). I'm currently watching HBO Max on a nightly basis. When I go to the apps rail, I always have to scroll along past about 10 other apps to reach it. Why can't the algorithm recognise that I'm using a certain app a lot & place it first on the rail? That would be nice.

Hi @Mr+Ripley

Best way is to use Voice control and say HBO Max.

This wil take you direct into the App without scrolling or selecting any Menus.

That's interesting, as on Stream/Glass the apps are ordered with the most recent apps used/open first on the rail; it seems bizarre to me that it doesn't work the same way on Q.

@MarkGoldsmith  Sky Q being a satelliet based receiver with apps is not connected to the users account the same way Sky Glass/Stream is so presumably that is a limitation for Sky Q.

Plus Sky Q is legacy (2016) whereas Sky Glass/Stream is a comcast developed product.

@Mr+Ripley  Post moved to the Sky Q board as this affects Sky Q only

Re: Sky Apps rail

From the home page, don't scroll down to the Apps section but instead press Right (to Top Picks), then scroll down about 5 or 6 times, and you will see your apps in order of most recent use.

@xenon81 You're right, under Continue Watching, the first show there is The Pitt, which is the show we're currently watching on HBO Max. I also notice that directly under that rail is Apps. And strangely, the very first app that appears there is HBO Max. So it works when taking the route you have mentioned, but not on the route I took. Using my route, HBO Max is the 10th app along.

@oldfella  Thanks for that, not sure why I didn't try it before. Tried it now & it works a treat. Shame I've reached the final episode of The Pitt before finding this out. 😕

I noticed the following yesterday in the Help section on my Sky Q box. You can see what the latest updates to the box are, and one of them relates to my OP. This is what it says: " ..... Apps will now be in your recently used order, so you can find the apps you love easily ". So I had a look around & saw that this is, in fact, correct, but only via the Home Page. If you access Apps from the sidebar on the left, it's a different story. From there, I have to scroll through 9 other apps before I reach HBO Max. Why? It doesn't make sense. Why does the update only work for one area but not another? Of course, thanks to @oldfella, I now know to use voice control on my remote for quick access, but not everyone has voice-controlled remotes. I think the update needs updating.

Hi @Mr+Ripley   This is not a recent update, the App order on the Home page has been in last used order for several years now. I have rarely used the Menu route to launch Apps. The Home page is quick and easy.

@MightyQuinn Fair enough. That was the first time I've seen the Updates section, so I figured the updates shown were fairly new. Good to know.
