Is it for example midnight when the next day is added to the tv guide or is a check done at midnight across all series every night etc

The way SKY Q works is to schedule just the next programme in the link.
When the 1st programme starts recording it then schedules the next one
F1 has various programmes in the link which include the Drivers & Constructors Press conferences as well as the F1 shows as wll as P1/P2/P3/Quali/pre show/ Race/Chequered Flag Show & even Highlights (I think annoyingly)
So with F1 the next programme Scheduled is Drivers Press Conference
I am not too sure what will happen if you switch off the box (rather than leaving in standy) when the next shows will record/get scheduled
