Series link keeps failing
For the past year my series link will randomly stop working and my Sky Q just decides that it is not going to record the series I have linked anymore. It's so frustrating! Hoping someone can help as now it is virtually impossible to contact anyone at Sky and they seem to expect you to be able to fix every problem by doing the same generic few steps on their app or website which is really unhelpful especially for such an expensive service

Hi @Jessica54
The majority of series link failures or repeats are normally down to the Host Broadcaster coding incorrect link information. Main line channels however don't often make mistakes.
You could try the following procedure.
First make a note of all your series links in ~Recordings - Scheduled.
Then first remove just the series link from each scheduled recording. ( Don't remove or cancel the recording at this stage, just remove the series link)
After you have removed all the series links then Cancel every scheduled recording.
Once the scheduled section is completely empty reboot the Q box.
To reboot press Standby on your Sky Q remote (if the box responds to the remote), and then switch off and unplug at the mains.
Wait at least 30 secs and then Plug back in and switch your Sky Q box back on at the mains.
Wait for the on screen instructions to disappear and the front led to turn Amber. Then wait for 30 secs before you press Home on your Sky Q remote or if this is not working press the standby button on the front of the Q box (Amber led)
note: some features may take up to 5 minutes to return.
Once the box is completely back up and running re add all your series links.
See how it goes.

Re: Series link keeps failing
I'm sick & tired of series linked programs failing, I read about the broadcasting channels making mistakes with coding but F1 is broadcast by sky.
as soon as my subscription is up I will seriously consider leaving sky.

Hi @Kev148
There are no problems with F1 series links. Just remember that sometimes the links don't appear until the Thursday so don't be tempted to fiddle with them.
The following links provides information on leaving Sky. https://www.sky.com/help/your-account/my-account-and-subscription/cancelling/cancel-my-subscription

Re: Series link keeps failing
"Well it doesn't affect me" is the least helpful or objective advice going. Jog on.
Series link is an endless point of pain for many, including me. The ONLY programs I set on series link are F1 and Premier League, both of which are Sky Sports, so none of the excuses about other broadcasters hold.
All of this weekend's F1 has failed to record for me. Both HD and UHD. I think this is 3rd F1 weekend I've had issues with just in 2025. Not to mention previous years.
The best advice I can offer is to simply not trust it and assume you need to do it manually every time. This is the best way to avoid disappointment.
Contacting Sky Support won't fix the issue, your time is worth more than them running through the script, for it to just happen again in a couple of months. However, I have managed to get some money back when they agreed it was happening too often. I cancelled over the issue in 2023, but they tempted me back with 40% off a few months later.
Good luck!
