The second q box stopped working - no connection - endless attempts at fixing - thinking of leaving sky as I object to time spent re booting etc - waste of money and time

I presume you're referring to a Sky Q mini box. Have you just been trying to reboot the mini box, in which case reboot the main box, then when that's back up and running reboot the mini box. If that fails you can always call Sky and ask for technical advice there. You'd have to contact Sky anyway if you wanted to cancel.
