Seamless Netflix Transition is a big lie!

Hi all,

I moved to Sky TV + Netflix as sky.com was saying it's a seamless transition! After I moved to Sky TV, I noticed the quality is too bad and I can't use Netflix in different TV/mobile at the same time. So, I found out it moved my Netflix Premium package to Netflix Basic package!

Please be careful with Sky services, the information given on the web page is not correct. You need to read the forum in detail!

I wanted to cancel my account, I called the agent and she told me it's an 18 months contract and I can't cancel the account or if I want Netflix Premium , I need to upgrade my package to Ultra HD + HD ($12 more on monthly basis)! she didn't give me any other option.

I tried to reach our Sky helpdesk from sky.com but there is no reply back on the chat window!

I called the agent again today and they told me I need to pay £247 extra for early cancellation or I need to upgrade my package to Ultra HD +HD with extra charge. I said there is 2 months free of charge for Ultra HD + HD upgrade package under my deals but when I click on it, it directs me to my account .

They said they can't see the deal in their system. I need to try it online! Finally, I fed up with the lies I have been told by Sky and cancelled my services fully immediately today!

Please don't buy anything from Sky as everything said on the deals are a big lie! I learned it from the hardest way by buying nothing for £300 in total in less than a month!

You paid for the basic package @Edaob and that's what you got. You clearly didn't read properly before signing up but expected to get the top tier package of Netflix.  You only have yourself to blame I'm afraid.

Looks correct to me:

"What type of Netflix is included with Sky Ultimate TV?

With Sky Ultimate TV or Ultimate TV Add on, you’ll get Netflix Basic which gives you unlimited streams and downloads across the full range of Netflix series, films and shows on one device.

To get Netflix Standard and watch Netflix on 2 devices and in HD, simply add the Sky HD Pack.

To get Netflix Premium and watch Netflix on 4 devices and in Ultra HD, add the Sky UHD pack."

Yup. Correct and clear for me too.

I had a totally seamless transition from paying for Premium direct with Netlfix and then switching it to Sky. It works out a hell of a lot cheaper than paying Netflix direct. In fact it's probably the best and most used part of my Sky subscription, and better still, I don't need to use the Q box to access Netflix.

Which would be largely how Sky can offer a discount on the Netflix pricing.  As @fizzdisco and @Mark39 note above, the information on this is displayed on the website: certainly the best saving is achieved by those who already have or are prepared to add the relevant Sky extras, as one might expect from such a promotion.

How have you cancelled?  You would seem to be in contract and that would attract termination charges?

I am just another Sky customer and my views are my own

Re: Seamless Netflix Transition is a big lie!

I believe me or not it was not explicitly saying it's Netflix Basic package when I was buying it online. It only said £26 a month for Sky Ultimate TV (includes Netflix).

On the other hand, I expected to have Netflix Premium which I was paying £13.99 + Sky TV with some basic channels on top of that. With the resolution quality of both Netflix Basic and Sky TV doesn't worth any penny and I couldn't think I would be paying £26 for nothing.

If you find the details on the online sky deals, please share with me. I couldn't find the original deal which is from 27th of Feb.

The most frustrating part is finding the relavent information in My Sky Account or reaching out to the agents online or by mobile phone.

Initially, I tried to upgrade my existing basic Sky TV package to Ultra HD + HD accepting additional charges. I saw there is 2 months free upgrade package deal online but the agent said it doesn't exist in their system. I said I can clearly see it online, I tried to upgrade online but it didn't allow me to do. After, 1.5 hours of talking on the phone, I fed up with all system related issues and just cancelled it with paying all the cost! I don't think I can fully blame my reading.

That would be the source of your miscalculation: Sky value their own-brand channels and the others included in 'Signature', even in SD, rather more highly than you do, which leaves very little left over to go towards the Netflix subscription.

Realistically the terms of the Sky-Netflix deal will have been calculated to gain an adequate return for both parties: it's not in the interest of either to undercut their existing pricing structures through collaboration.

Re: Seamless Netflix Transition is a big lie!

@Edaob  Online deals generaly have to be taken online by clicking the upgrade now button. The same deals arent always available on the phone. I missed my free 2 months the same way too cos i added when renegotiating my contract rather than waiting and doing it online

There's invariably the 'small print' to read, too, which many customers don't do.

Re: Seamless Netflix Transition is a big lie!

@Mark39 It was not listed in the small print of the main deals page, I read all the details that time. It was only listed in the next page once you added to your box and pay for it. So, you can be easily tricked!
