Scam call about Sky TV

Got a call yesterday from 0800 802 1469, knew my name, what I paid for sky and my package. Knew when my deal expired but was very weird, asking email, phone, password.
I called sky today to check if someone from the retention team had phoned me and there was no record of it.
a bit concerned, what can they get from my info, obviously I didn't give out any private information. Very annoyed that @Sky cannot help me with this.

Most likely a call from Sky Protect, administered on behalf of Sky by Domestic and General Insurance, offering you insurance for your household electronics, including your Sky kit.

As @Mark39 indicates, Sky can legitimately use that information to facilitate insurance sales calls made from or on behalf of D&G, which is frankly annoying but unfortunately permitted by the relevant legislation

Sky seem to ask for the complete password which is very bad practice, a couple of digits should be enough. I know you should use a different password for all firms etc but not many people do and if a password leaks there is much damage that can be done to your finances.

Re: Scam call about Sky TV

I had the same call.  Eventually they asked for the first 6 digits of my account number as they had the last 2.  They then wanted to confirm my sort code.  I indicated my concern and that I thought it was a scam.  Immediately the phone went dead and surprise surprise, no return phone call, which I would have expected as a minimum.  I am relieved that they didn't get too much information from me but Sky need to understand that D&G (or whoever it is) are worrying some of their customers.
