Having the same issue, Sky Ssid coming up while hard wired - connected to router but no internet connection. Have tried going to wifi but it connects then disconnects after a while.

When on ethernet are you disabling wifi?

Re: SKY Q showing wrong network when wired.

With the Ethernet cable connected I had WiFi disabled and it still shows a sky SSID, I have a recently had Sky send me a replacement box where i still had the same issue. I have connected to the box via WiFi now and I have the correct SSID.

Sky tech team had know answer on how to resolve this issue, something they need to look into otherwise what are customers suppose to do.

You mean "no answer"?

Just ignore it, as long as it works

if it doesn't work, that's a different story...

Re: SKY Q showing wrong network when wired.

The fact it doesn't work via the Ethernet cable is still the issue, the fact when speaking to sky tech team there is no answer to that problem isn't very good.

They should want to investigate the problem and not just say use the WiFi. Not great customer service.

Re: SKY Q showing wrong network when wired.

Hi all,

I am reading this with interest. I have recently switched to you fibre with an eero and have 2 additional eeros to extend my network coverage. I am having intermittent issues and trying to find a solution. The main sky q box is connected via Ethernet to a tp link extender and seems to work fine, it is the mini boxes I am having issue with. I have 2 of the mini boxes connected via Ethernet into an eero router and as they kept trying to connect via WiFi I have disabled both  2.4 & 5ghz only this morning. I have one other mini which still communicates via WiFi. I did this first thing this morning and so far all boxes seem to be working quickly and without issue.

one thing I cannot get my head around is that the boxes that are hard wired now show the network name as a sky network with random SSIDs. Can anyone give me their thoughts on why this is happening?

hopefully it remains stable and that is the main thing, but it is making me wonder if they are truly connecting to the eero network.

ps, when I check on the eero app the 3 hard wired boxes are showing connected via Ethernet

No

Especially considering wifi is worse.

do you have minis? How are the comnected? Ethernet too?

Re: SKY Q showing wrong network when wired.

I don't have any mini box's just the main 1tb box, got an engineer attending in a months time, let's see how it goes for the time being.

upsate - I have just noticed that the sky SSID that is being shown is actually next door's sky BB.

How do you know it's next door's? A few people have said this.

Hi @Dorts1905   If it works you can safely ignore what it says as your connected SSID. Mine is reporting it is connected to a BT router that I had 5 years ago. I'm even no longer with BT. Just ignore it, the bug has been there for over 8 years.

Re: SKY Q showing wrong network when wired.

I assume it is next doors as I am picking it up on a WiFi search - it is possible that the main sky Q box that is showing connected to this is emitting the signal I guess.

Re: SKY Q showing wrong network when wired.

It will be your Sky box's internal mesh network, people often assume it must be next doors.

I'm on Virgin broadband and the Sky box is connected via Ethernet but still shows as connected to a network like SKY45678.

Re: SKY Q showing wrong network when wired.

Thanks  everyone,  now I know! As people have said, as long as it works then I'll ignore what the boxes are saying.  What I can't believe is that sky haven't updated their mesh system and I was told by an engineer recently that the stream system uses the same 8-9 year old technology.

I bet it doesn't. There's no central box with Stream that needs to serve the other pucks.
