Re: SKY Q showing wrong network when wired.

It will be the name of your Sky's internal mesh network that links the main and mini boxes.

@TonyLo Who is your broadband provider ?  Is the mini connected by wifi or ethernet ?

@TonyLo right so when connecting a mini box to the main box by wifi the Main box emits a Sky mesh that the mini box joins(it doesn't use your vodaphone wifi) this is what you are probably seeing and as you are using the mini by wifi it is more than likely just showing this as the ethernet connection as well due to the mesh being enabled.

Re: SKY Q showing wrong network when wired.

I have both on a wired connection now both plugged directly into my Vodafone modem and they are both still showing as a sky network.

when I then went to put the TV on WiFi the same sky WIFI Id appears (also on a mobile) but asks for a password when you try to connect?

does this seem normal still?

Re: SKY Q showing wrong network when wired.

Hello, just wanted to confirm I've got the same issue.

Long story short, recently changed network provider as full fibre became available in my area and I've had issues with it that's caused me to reset the router settings multiple times.

I noticed one of my mini boxes claimed its network SSID was my old router, which is unplugged.

When I checked the main box, I found it thought the same, so I reset it. Once reset, I opted for Ethernet and it refuses to acknowledge the name of my new SSID. It instead refers to the network as one of the Sky box ID's. I even unplugged all of the mini boxes just in case it was picking up something from them but I get the same result. Even stranger is that the box DOES act as though its connected yet my router tells me the Sky isn't connected and I can't find the matching MAC address. Utterly bizarre and I'm baffled.

One last thing I forogt to note, I do have the option of manually selecting my new router via WiFi of course and this does show up correctly.

Re: SKY Q showing wrong network when wired.

Similar problem for me. Recently changed my broadband provider from Vodafone to Plusnet and connected through ethernet but it's showing a Sky SSID.

Done the network reset and it's made no difference. I only have the Sky Q box though, no mini boxes or anything similar.

The fact I'm connected through WiFi on other devices but it's showing this on a wired connection is a concern. Given that I don't have any other boxes apart from the main Sky Q box I can't imagine it is a sky mesh ID.

Advice is appreciated but seems a common fault. If it is how it is, I'll leave it

Hi @DugdaleLynch1994   If it is a fault then it is an 8 year old fault. There is only one thing that matters, it works! As an example, mine is showing the BTHub6 name from 5 years ago. I am using Gigaclear Linksys router now, and had a BT SH2 before that.

Re: SKY Q showing wrong network when wired.

Hi All,

currently facing the same issue, My current broadband supplier is See The Light a sister company to Sky. They only provide you with a basic TP link router but when connecting my Sky Q box to it the box maps is with a Sky router SSID and says it's connected to the internet but I cannot use any of the on demand services.

Ive logged onto the router and can see no IP address assigned to the port with Sky Q box. In speaking with my BB supplier they believe this to be a Sky issues. Has anyone else had this before?

If it's connected over ethernet, have you disabled wifi?

does the Q think it's been assigned an IP address?

Re: SKY Q showing wrong network when wired.

I have disabled the WiFi, I've tried connecting to the router via WiFi and it still assigns the wrong SSID

The ssid issue is a red herring but the fact it can't access content is odd.

Re: SKY Q showing wrong network when wired.

Yeah I'm stuck in what to do, I have been waiting for a engineering appointment to be given to me as the engineer left we with this service when it was installed last week.

slightly annoying.
