SKY Q Box Dimensions

Has the new SKY Q box got smaller?

Our builder who has just constructed our media wall says our SKY Q box is too big, he thought we had the new SKY Q box which is smaller?
Is there a newer more compact version?  Have they changed size over the years? - Think we got our box in 2019.

And is there an easy way of upgrading to the new smaller box if it exists?

There is no new Sky Q box. Your builder is perhaps thinking of the Sky Stream puck which is a lot smaller but is an entirely different system which uses your broadband connection to receive programmes rather than a satellite dish.

You can switch from Q to Stream, but it is by no means an upgrade - it is a different service. Not all channels are available, it doesn't record, and it relies entirely on fast and stable broadband, so do make sure you research it fully before deciding on a switch.

@MJO

I got my v1 Sky Q box in November 2019.

Sky Q box dimensions:

Sky Q 2TB v1 (32BO):

345mm wide x 210mm deep x 35mm high

Sky Q 2TB v2 (32B1):

345mm wide x 210mm deep x 43mm high

Not sure on the dimensions for the v3. Obviously a mini box is smaller.

Perhaps he's thinking of mini boxes?  (Or stream etc.)

The main Q boxes are basically the same size - either 330/345mm wide, between 35 and 43mm tall.  (All 210mm deep)

I'd suggest they were almost certainly thinking of the Stream puck (released in 2021/22) which would very much make it their potentially rather expensive mistake...

As noted in comments above a Q Mini box (from 2016) is considerably smaller than a main Q box (the clue is in the name) but a Mini can't output UHD and so would be an unusual choice for a bespoke media wall.
