SANDSTROM Gold HDMI

Hi all!

Ive recently purchased a LG OLED 4K UHD television.  I also bought a SANDSTROM Gold HDMI cable to connect my Sky box to the TV....when setting up the TV it could not locate the WI-FI so I swapped the cables back to the original pink ended HDMI cable and when I tried setting up the TV again it found the WI-FI .....anyone know the reason for this and have I wasted £40 on a fancy HDMI cable I didn't need!

hi @Markyevz

HDMI Cables only carry the TV & Audio so not sure how the HDMI cable is relevant to wifi

BTW I am afraid I do, also,  have to say that your expensive HDMI cable is unlikely to perform any better than the SKY supplied cable  (Edit - For SKY you only need a 4K HDMI 2.0 capable cable which can usually be picked up for under £10,  even for PC/Games etc running at 8K HDMI 2.1 good quality cables  can usually be obtained for £10-£15 - you only need pay more for optical cables needed for long runs)

Yes: unless possessing such cable brings intangible benefits of self-worth, £4 of Amazon Basics will be just as 'good'.

If you aren't in need of industrial coatings, 'Sandstrom' is a brand label invented by the Marketing Department at Currys and doesn't appear to have any external existence as an actual identifiable individual manufacturer at all.
