Returning sky equipment

How come I'm having to return my sky equipment,I cancelled my subscription as I'm off work sick at the moment,when I'm back working and can afford it again I'll be going back to my old package,seems daft sending it back?

Cancelling the subscription does just that.  As the boxes are essentially leased against an active sub, Sky can re-use your kit for someone else.  If you don't contact Sky again, the kit will need to be returned as you never owned the Sky Q box.

And when you return your Sky Q box remove and keep your viewing card because if you take out a new subscription in the future Sky will think you've kept it and won't automatically send a new one with a new box.

@Bazw   As Sky Q is being phased out, might be worth doing some research on Sky Stream?    There's an excellent journey documented here by @lettice
