@holiday53 You will need to call Sky or use the following link https://www.sky.com/help/articles/cancel-sky-tv#contact-leave

On the link provided (In the UK) it should include a Message Us option between 0900-1930.

You can also call on 150 from a Sky Mobile or Sky Talk line

If you haven't got a current Sky Mobile or Sky Talk this link should help:
(UK) https://www.sky.com/help/home Scroll down and click on ‘Need more help’ and it provides a 0333 number
(ROI) on the same link change the flag in the very bottom corner to the ROI flag to obtain an 0818 number.

Stay on the line and don’t hang up if prompted to. Apparently the quieter times to ring are just after 7am or about 9pm.

If you don't see the Contact options on the link above make sure java script is enabled on your browser.

@holiday53

It's your discounts that run out the end of the month, not the contract. Your contract doesn't end until you physically cancel it. The best offers are normally obtained through calling. Sky are not obliged to offer you another discount so if you’re offered something acceptable you need to agree to it there and then because if you decide to think about it the offer may no longer be available when you call back.

To remove part of your Sky Q/+ TV package (in your case UHD) you will need to contact Sky and give 31 days notice. Make sure cancellation of a certain add-on doesn’t cancel another discount.

Re: Renew contract

Good luck with renewing at a reasonable price and don't forget that they hike up the price by 10% every April, so a new contract now will mean 10% in 2 months and another 10% next April, with 4 months remaining on an 18 month contract.

I have been in contact with sky via their online chat numerous times for almost a month now, since I gave them 30 days notice - as my offers were coming to an end. Every contact was a complete waste of my time and the price they offer me is increasing, rather than decreasing - when the initial offer was far too high to begin with.

We have had Sky TV for over 30 years now, practically since the very beginning. They are quick enough to thank me for my loyalty, but this is just an empty gesture and means absolutely nothing to them.

I moved over to SkyQ 7 years ago, which initially halved the monthly fee (as I was paying around £85 per month for Sky+ even with discounts) but the price just keeps increasing. I can understand an increase, but the monthly fee is getting out of hand at this point.

All I see now is greed on their part. On top of the ever increasing prices, they now insist on bogus admin fees.

@mjfuk

If I remember correctly it wasn't 10% last year. No announcement has been made on any increases this year yet.

Admin charges are normal and usually added to discounted deals (new or on renewal), and it’s normally £10 per discount. You can always say it's a deal breaker if they aren't waived and see what they say.,

Re: Renew contract

Well my bill went up by 9.5% last April, so close enough to 10%.

Yes admin charges are now normal, but the point is that they never used to be. It's just another slimey tactic to fleece more money out of people.

Charging extra for HD is also questionable.

The c10% rise in April 2023 was based on a historically high government figure of 10.5% for CPI in December 2022.

CPI in December 2023 was 4%

Sky do tend to interlink discounts.

For example, I cancelled my Netfilx through Sky because you can only set up an Extra Member sub on a standalone Netflix sub. Instead of saving money  on my Sky sub it cost me more because it halved the Cinema discount and cancelled the free UHD sub I had..
