Removing HD from my contract

Hi I am just talking to sky about my renewal.  I always ask about removing HD and I always get an answer that I do not understand.  What would happen please if I did remove it?  would I only see non HD channels?  not a lot of channels that are not HD now.

BTW - totally unhappy about Discovery plus now being ruled by TNT. Eurosport was so good.  That means I will need to pay extra to watch Austrialian open next year and pay this year if I want to see the end of Roland Garros.  I suppose others are unhappy here.

this is what I got told

I appreciate you're aware about it. Any contents which are telecasted in HD or if you have any
favourite shows recorded in HD and the catch up channel will get removed if Sky HD gets removed.

So that would mean I only see non HD (not alot) according to this guy

hi @Lorraine+C+C

Please see my reply above yours - there are SD versions nearly all channels

Any HD recordings you have remaon on your box until you delete them but if you try to watch them you will be prompted to upgrade

If you remove the HD pack you still give free-to-air channels in HD.  There are the odd quirk but you don't have to have HD.

It wasn't Sky's decision.  There's a massive thread about it if you're interested.

I am just another Sky customer and my views are my own even if you don't like the answers

See this thread re Eurosport being closed by its parent company not Sky.

TNT, Discovery and Eurosport are all Warner Bros brands, so they get to make such decisions: all it takes is a century in the entertainment business and some tens of billions of dollars...

hi @Lorraine+C+C

As others have mentioned you do get the Free To Air channels in HD however, currently I don't know of any subscription channels as part of  Sky Siganture that do not have SD versions - just look much further down the channel list.

Thus you do not loose any channels as such

BTW there is a quirk with Channel 4 & C5 (I think) that you can watch and record in HD without the HD add on but cannot download & watch in HD from Catch up/On Demand.
