Remote control

I've been using my sky Q remote to control the volume on my JMB tv in a bedroom it's worked fine for 18 months. But last week it stopped controlling the volume. I've done all the steps to re pair it my pressing 1and 3 and the other button combinations to reset it and have even tried it today with a brand new remote control but it won't change the volume , it's changed it fine for the last 18 months so can't understand why it's suddenly stopped. Any body have any idea why this might be .Thanks

Hi @Debzeb   Assuming that you have paired it to your TV successfully? Also the TV remote changes the volume okay.  The Mini box must be seen by the remote (not in a cabinet or behind the TV). If you point the remote towards a mobile phone camera, it makes the IR signal visible to check that it is actually working.

@Debzeb Have you tried rebooting your Q box ie
putting your box into Standby then switching it off at the wall for 30 seconds
switch it back on then follow the on screen instructions

I may be a Sky Superuser but I am still just a Sky customer

Re: Remote control

Yes the tv remote controls the volume but it's more convenient if the sky remote does it

Hi @Debzeb   That was simply to rule out a problem with the TV. So what exactly happens when you try to pair by holding down 1 & 3? Do you find your TV make and model? Have you tested you Sky Q remote is sending a signal (volume up & down) by using a mobile phone camera? Have you tried resetting the remote by holding down 7 & 9 until the led flashes 4 times then 1 & 3?

Vestel (not Vestral 😉) are a Turkish company who manufacture TVs at much lower cost for other brands, best known of which are Toshiba and Sharp.
