Re: Paramount plus free trial

I only joined Sky a few weeks ago and got the offer so I think probably every 'vip' user got the offer? I got it / noticed it via ' my sky' app and went through the steps to get the six months free on Paramount site with no issues. I don't think the box you use will stop you getting the offer as while I have sky q, I actually watch paramount on eg mobile, Apple TV device, etc. you just get the basic plan free (1080p on 1 device at a time, with ads). You can login on pretty much any kind of suitable device. I think the offer date would be up by now but if it didn't even come through for you at the time try ringing sky customer services and ask for it. They might have  a way to give you access or compensate you with a similar new offer. I am in ROI not sure if that makes a difference but doubt it. Basically, you should have gotten the offer?

@GardenZen  You would have needed to activate via SKY Q.

As I mentioned, unfortunately,  SKY +/HD users cannot do this initial activation as the SKY HD boxes do not have the app.

After activation you can , indeed,  watch on any device - as I do mainly on a Firestick

Thus SKY HD users are limited to the on demand, downloadable,  content available via the SKY box

Re: Paramount plus free trial

I just went into 'my sky' app, ie on my mobile device, clicked the offer, and got the below email. Ps I can watch on Apple TV. It says mobile below but it works on Apple TV too. I didn't have to do anything whatsoever on the q box. Just found and clicked into offer from within 'My Sky' app on my mobile device.

I don't know if this has changed over time or just with this offer - anyway good to know it does not need SKY Q to activate.

I am sure there are SKY HD users that would be glad to know this can be used, if they get this offer

Re: Paramount plus free trial

Out of curiosity why are there still sky hd users? Can they not apply to get the q box instead? Maybe there are still unique advantages to the sky hd box?

Because Sky never forced them to upgrade...

They can.

Not really but many don't see the Q as an upgrade and some features were not implemented (most notably reminders).

I am just another Sky customer and my views are my own even if you don't like the answers

hi @GardenZen

I think  there are probably a variety of reasons - a couple of which I think may be amongst them.

The UI is a simple, uncluttered interface that many users like & don't like the look & feel  of the graphical thumbnail style UI - especially for accessing recordings etc.

SKY HD is a simplistic box that generally 'just works'

Some users have multiroom with separate boxes in different rooms, meaning different users have full control over their recordings - SKY Q mini approach with all recordings on the main box does not lend itself to this style of users as there is no user profile system on SKY Q

I rarely used reminders but years of SKY Q & I still miss Bookmarks for recordings
