Recording - Q box will not record because it says there's a problem with the hard disk drive. What to do? I'm loathed to erase the HDD because of consequences.

Such errors are usually fatal and will require a new box (with loss of all recordings).

The above link should lead to a replacement box if needed.

 

If you do need a new box remember to remove the viewing card from the faulty box before it disappears into the back of the couriers van and accept any new power cable DPD deliver with the replacement box in case it's different to the one you have.

OK I took the plunge and erased the HDD. Result is that recording is back active although whatever I had recorded has gone. That's a small price to pay to have it operational.

It may fail again unless the issue was temporary corruption...  But worth trying before a box swap.
