Last Satueday a Sky engineer came to do the upgrade from the HD box to the Q box.
After he left I found that a lot of channels say "no satellite signal."
All the BBC channels are affected. I checked the first 97 channels before I gave up and 25 were affected.
I have an engineer booked for this Saturday.
He did not adjust the dish, just changed the LNB. The old LNB did not have this problem .I assume that the dish needs a tweak to pick up the missing channels. Would that be likely?
I have 3 feeds from the dish, 2 to the Sky box and 1 to the TV. Out of interest I used the TV tuner to check the signal. The feed that is normally used for the TV tuner shows 860 services including all BBC ones. The other 2 feeds show 229 services and 79 services with no BBC channels.
I found it odd that when I plugged the "good" feed into the Q box it made no difference. Any ideas?

hi @JonMac46
Have you disturbed the cables going to the SKY Q box - each cable to Q carries approx half the channels ?
They each carry the channels from the different polarisations - one for Horizontal & one for vertical
Your TV's Satellite tuner uses a different method to SKY Q - a single cable can be used to get all channels by sending a 22kHz Tone & adjusting voltage and thus the cables between your TV Satellite Tuner and SKY Q cannot be switched (for you to get this as well as SKY Q they will have fitted a 'Hybrid' LNB that outputs both types of signals_
It sounds like one of the wideband feeds used for Q is not working correctly so check both are connected fully.
If possible check each to make sure that none of the fine strands of the outer sheathing make contact with the Central core wire - if even one touches it can cause a short circuit & the box will stop providing power to the LNB on the dish
Much more difficult to check is that the outer sheathing copper does make contact with the outer barrel of the F connector - if not, then in this case the voltage won't be supplied to the LNB
BTW the central core wire should just be approx 2mm from the end of the plug

Very intersting, thank you.
I haven't touched the Q box or the LNB, I'll leave it for the engineer.
