Q Box Mini Eco Mode Disrupts My LAN - WHY?

For several months, I noticed my LAN was being disrupted at exactly 2:30 every night.

The disruption only lasted about 30 seconds but it was very inconvenient.

All traffic on my LAN was halted, video streams from security cameras froze and no devices responded to pings.

The problem was traced my mini Q box which (unbeknown to me) was set to Eco Mode.  When I disabled Eco Mode, the problem was resolved and no further disruption occurred.

How the hell have Sky allowed a device onto the market that causes such LAN disruption?  Do they care? Do they even know?  

It's unacceptable.  It's sloppy, careless engineering.

02:30 is slightly early for Eco Mode as it only takes effect at 02:45 (until 05:45). I see the main box disconnecting at 02:45 and reconnecting at 05:45 in my network log, but it doesn't cause any issues.

Sky's own notes confirm Eco mode kicks in at 02:30.
This is the effect it was having on my camera streams.  The cameras themselves continued to function but any events that they captured during the blip wouldn't be tranferred by FTP to my NAS.
