Puzzled by package

IMG_8253.png

 this is my package on sky Q. I have sky sports HD but its not possible to record Sky Sports Main Event. I am also puzzled by the fact that I have golf and F1 (me and the wifes interests) but my pals say sports is a complete package? If I have Sky Ports HD should that not include Sky Sports Main Event?

thanks,

Andy

@homerhiggins

Sky Sports Main Event becomes a bonus channel when adding the full Sports subscription.

hi @homerhiggins

SKY SPorts Main Event usually mirrors some other sports channels - either the full rpogramme sr sometimes just part - for example the Race only coverage of F1 not the pre & post shows

As  @Daniel0210 it is a bonus channel for Full Sports subscribers but when it is simulcasting a channel you subsvribe to you may be able to watch it at that time  but not at other times  - however you may be limited to recording from the channel you have in your subscription.

Most customers do have the Full Sports pack which is why your friends probably mention they have it.

These days individual channels are not offered as frequently as they used to be and customers usually have to specifically ask for these unless there is a specific promotion on (usually at the start of a season or sometimes for golf in the lead up to a specific tournament or the Ryder cup) but I have to admit I have not seen such promotions for a while.

a Single channel is cheaper than the full pack & likewise a 2 channel  deal but the full sprts pack (particular when on offer) is not significantly more.

The  Sports HD add on applies to any channels  sports channels you subscribe to be they individual or the full Sports pack (note SKY Sports News & SKY Sports Mix are part of SKY Signature base pack and these need the standard HD pack to watch in HD)

Note the SKY Sports HD add on is always listed separately in bills but is standard in the UK and thus cannot be removed .

Hi @homerhiggins Sky Sports HD was a separate subscription before it was included with Sky Sports

Sky Sports Main Event is a bonus channel it's only available when you have Sky Sports Complete package

Sky Sports Golf has it's own dedicated channel in HD and Sky Sports F1 has it's own dedicated channel in HD and UHD if you have the UHD subscription.

Some Golf matches are available in UHD via the red button if you also have the UHD subscription

Re: Puzzled by package

Many thanks for the replies! I think I understand now but the one thing I have learned is that Sky is a very complex and strange model. I'm not sure I've ever spoken to anyone with the same package at the same price in all the years I've been with them.

regards,

Andy

That's just due to the changing packages and platforms (HD to Q) over the many years they've been running. I do wonder how many are still on the legacy packages such as Variety?

@homerhiggins

Just to be clear, 'Sky Sports HD' is a legacy resolution upgrade add-on, not a channel or channel bundle. It's actually no longer required because all Sports channels are in HD by default these days, even if the Sports subscriber doesn't have the regular Sky HD upgrade add-on which affects non-Sports channels.
