I expect it is converted from NTSC

I don't think NTSC to PAL conversions are an issue these days

NTSC Quality in particular has moved on from the Never Twice the Same Color days 🙂

Still the same 525 lines for NTSC compared to 625 for PAL @nigea99

Also better colour encoding with PAL

It's more likely that the source is 720/60p and the conversion from 60Hz to 50Hz is causing some artifacts.

Re: Poor picture on sky sport HD

Bt tv picture quality blows Sky sports channels quality out of the water.Don't know why but every time I watch Bt sport on the Q box the difference is so noticeable.

Re: Poor picture on sky sport HD

What I don't understand, and maybe those who know something about the technicalities of it can help me out is, why is the HD coming from India (for the cricket IPL) so much better than those coming from just down the road at Tottenham?

@Kinchmusic @And why is The Gernan football picture far better too. Absolute joke picture the quality is.

You'll always get some smart **bleep** (probably employed by sky) on here trying to say it's your tv or set up etc.

Re: Poor picture on sky sport HD

It's not just sky with varying picture quality.

The picture tonight on Bt Sport for the Rangers game is incredible. However for the English Premier league games on BT it's not great as it's all dark and pink. The European games are incredible too. Why are English games' picture quality rubbish on both BT and Sky?

Sky's Ultra Hd is no where near BT's quality regardless , Why?

Ok, I'll bite (and I don't work for Sky!).  I'm watching EFL ON 403 UHD and it's pin-sharp & perfect colour balance

I am just another Sky customer!

Re: Poor picture on sky sport HD

Fwiw, the PQ on the Chelsea/ Palace semi- final is superb. So, my conclusion is that Sky Q is capable of delivering superb HD pics when the source is right. Sadly it seems that the old adage of rubbish in, rubbish out is correct. Sky, sort it out.

Picture on Plymouth v Sunderland is shocking!

Like watching it in the 90s. .....Blurred as hell!

We're paying for HD FGS!
