Pleased new order for sky, estimated activation date is 28 March,

After leaving Sky due to large price increases, I called to request a basic package. After a 40-minute sales call, I ended up with a package almost identical to my previous one but at around a third of the price, so I agreed and placed the order on Tuesday 4th.

I was told the services would be activated later that same day. However, when nothing happened, I checked the Sky app and saw that the activation date was showing as 28th March instead.

To clarify this, I contacted Sky. After speaking with three different advisors and another 35 minutes on the phone, I was told there was a “system glitch”, and a service ticket had been raised which could take 3 to 5 days to resolve.

It’s now the 8th, I have an engineer booked for Monday to install the broadband, but I still have no Sky TV service — only the non-Sky channels are working on the satellite box.

Where do I go from here?

The 'basic package' on Sky Q is 'Television Essentials' and that doesn't include any Sky-branded channels (other than News and Arts which are free-to-air)

Are you sure you haven't been put on this rather than 'Signature', which is the minimum to get other Sky channels?

Note that the confusingly named 'Essential TV' which includes Sky Atlantic, Netflix Standard with Adverts and Discovery+ Basic is only available on Glass & Stream, not Q.

Re: Pleased new order for sky, estimated activation date is 28 March,

Hi

Thank you for your reply,

I had been with Sky for 15 years when I decided to leave, I was tired of putting my money in Sky's shareholders pockets, I kept the satellite box, and with this and no active account you can still watch all the non Sky channels,

I have asked Sky to activate the upgrade packages including Movies and Sports, along with with restoring the other Sky channels.

You would think it's a quick flick of a switch

sadly not..
