Option to select 'Delete All Forever' recordings

Can we please have an option to allow the user to delete all the Deleted recordings?

Would make it much more efficient if we had this ability 🙂

At present we need to choose each single line, which can take a bit of time.

Hi @Lisa88

If you really want your deleted file empty afraid the only way to achieve this long term (without losing all recordings) is to get into the habit of permanently deleting recordings daily after watching.

This is what I do here every evening before putting the box into standby.  I delete each recording after watching and then at the end of the day go into Manage and permanently delete them forever.

There's no delete all option because it's unnecessary. Sky Q manages disk space automatically. No user involvement is needed.

Yeah I don't think there's any real technical need for this

But I do get that some people would prefer to be able to keep that list nice and clean 🙂

Re: Option to select 'Delete All Forever' recordings

Thanks all

After all the issues with Tiles not stacking issue, recordings all over the place etc, which is being investigated by Chloe (and team), I just happened to read that all deleted recordings must be also deleted. Which is when I thought this would come in usefull 🙂

It would be good to swap the position of the 'Delete Forever' and 'Undelete', though don't you think?

Put the Delete forever above the Undelete, as I have already accidently undeleted some items haha

Thanks anyway folks for the reply

That'll be a definite (and imho correct) design choice. You can reverse an accidental Undelete.

Completely agree, why can't  we have a delete all button to save time an effort in clearing memory on Q Box?

As posted before, because there's no need. Sky Q is quite capable of managing disk space and old recordings itself. Save yourself the effort - it's a waste of time.

Re: Option to select 'Delete All Forever' recordings My Answer

The 'undelete' is required sometimes for when users delete a recording by mistake, so is made available as the default option.

Technically the 'delete forever' is not required as the Sky box will take care of deleting these recordings itself, so it is not the default option.

Sky has set up this options on this menu to be the most useful for most people. Hopefully that answers your question.

Re: Option to select 'Delete All Forever' recordings

Does that mean it automatically deletes the deleted items list when the memory is full?

If space used by deleted items is required then they will be automatically removed, yes.

Re: Option to select 'Delete All Forever' recordings

Skyq does not automatically clear the storage from 'delete forever ' items . After manually doing this task my storage showed 57% used but still would not allow me to record a program

@Imc
Perhaps try a reboot of the main Sky Q box, then once that’s back up and running do the same with any mini boxes if necessary-
~ Using the remote put your main Sky Q box into standby
~ switch the box off at the plug
~ wait at least 30 seconds and then switch the box back on at the plug
~ follow the on screen instructions
~ when the screen goes blank and the blue Q stops pulsating wait another 30 seconds
~ press the 🏠 button
