No Satellite Signal

Got No Satellite Signal earlier on some channels ITV 1 , Some Sky Sports, Premier Sports etc

Rebooted and that fixed it

Now every channel has gone. Have tried the fixes recommended by Sky with no success. Engineer visit booked but just wondered if anyone had any other ideas. It's extremely cold here but no snow

Chances are your dish is slightly out of alignment and the cold might be exacerbate it.  No amount of reboots will assist with that...

Re: No Satellite Signal

Thanks both

Internet is fine

Thought it was likely something to do with the cold as have had no issues before

Engineer is coming Monday so will live off the apps until then!

Re: No Satellite Signal

And I've just turned it on. No signal again

Tried one last reboot and lo and behold everything is back and working fine

Now not sure about the engineer visit. A bit worried that there is something underlying but what could they do if it's up and running. I do wonder about the extremely cold weather last night.

See I might have to pay a cancellation fee if £25.

@Neil+and+Ellie

I'd keep the appointment.

With a “no satellite signal” message, check that the connections from the Sky dish going into the back of your Sky Q box are still finger tight. Otherwise it’s very likely either;
▫️a dish misalignment,
▫️a failing LNB (on the arm of the dish),
▫️water getting into the cabling

It’s worth mentioning that:

🔹 a misalignment is not necessarily something that will be visible to the naked eye and could only affect one or two channels (amongst the first to be affected may be TNT or GB News),

🔹 wind, rain or snow can affect the satellite signal.

🔹a Sky Q box requires a periodic 'Keep alive' signal that is delivered via the satellite so if that isn’t received the box will close down until the satellite signal is restored.

Re: No Satellite Signal

@Daniel0210

Thanks. That's the way my thought processes were going too

Sky have confirmed that I will be charged £25 if I cancel so may as well get it checked for free

Feel a bit bad about taking an appointment that someone else could you use but better to be safe
