Looks like our hard drive is on the way out. Recording not available until I reboot the main box every day for a week now.

Same problem which I seemed to solve by selecting Eco instead of Smart Standby in Preferences on the Settings selection.

It doesn't happen to everyone because it is an issue between the Sky box and some equipment. But the common factor is ALWAYS the Sky Box. That's why.

I cannot believe how long this has been going on. I too am getting the same fault on both my older Sony ZD9 and my new A95L.
Background:
6 months ago I made the stupid decision to move my fully functioning 2TB Sky Q to the Sky Streaming Puck. To cut a very long story short I went thhrough 3 pucks and 2 engineer visits with the wretched puck never working correctly. I eventually got Sky to take it away and give me a new Sky Q box. This when the issue under discussion started.
Whilst I am no expert, I believe Sky has quality control issues with its hardware products. Most will work, but more than a few do not. They have little interest in Sky Q because they are moving as fast as possible to a satellite-free streaming system (the Sky puck or preferably to them Sky Glass.
It is of little use to talk to Sky. Their support people while polite seem to work from an on-screen series of prompts. They always end up saying all my problems are because I have too many items connected to my broadband! Funny how my Apple TV+ device works with no issues.
After 25 years with Sky I am seiously looking at moving onto something such as the Freeview box with recorder, or my old Apple TV+ box. I hesitate because my wife often watches TV when I am not around and Sky Q used to be easy for her to use.

Got the same issue - got 2 identical Samsung TVs and does the same with both. Changed cables over as well. Is it a Samsung TV issue or Sky Q box?

It's not just Samsung TVs, although these do seem to be more prevalent.

That's because Samsung outsell any other tv manufacturer by nearly 2 to 1. Thus the numbers will naturally reflect this.

Digging further into this issue. I can usually get the Sky Q box and TV working together by switching the Q box off then on. One strange thing I have noticed is that issue seems to present itself overnight. I I switch on the morning, reboot the Q box and then watch some TV switching off after 30 minutes I can come back at 6pm and switchon wothout a problem. However if I leave it iovernight the issue re-appears. This mystifies me as the Q box is not in any eco mode so why should it be OK after 10 hours but not OK over 20 hours?
Anyone have any thoughts?

Just unplugging the HDMI cable and putting it back in seems to work.
Random times here.
I've changed the TV as I had an identical one elsewhere in the house, changed which socket the HDMI is plugged into and even swapped the cables over. I've now replaced the cable altogether (even though it is 2.0 and less than 2 years old) and monitoring.
Never does it with an identical TV on one of the Sky Q mini boxes

I have had this issue with two Sony TVs a ZD9 and now a A95L. I have also had two Q boxes. I have used three diferent HDMI cables. Nothing changes. The major problem is that this clearly does not happen with the huge majority of people so Sky are inable to help. I have narrowed down th eproblem as being the HDMI handshake but cannot think of why it happens to just a few of us.
