New Router. TV will not connect to WiFi

I have had a new router installed by a Sky engineer a couple of days ago , as my previous router had  developed a fault. I  receive a Broaband/WiFi on my laptop ,  Smart Phone and tablet OK , but not on my LG Smart TV. It shows my new WiFi name but when I enter the Sky password on the card i was given, it does not connect. With the old router my TV has connected without any problems. Can anybody help please. Thank you

Hi @HalcyonDays

If you are on Sky Broadband use WPS and not SSID and password.

Re: New Router. TV will not connect to WiFi

Jt is the LG LEG SmartTelevion Set. not the Sky Q box. The TV comes up swith no WIFi connection on the screen so ican cannot get into gthde Netfox etc apps. It comes up WiFi connection and  shows the correct router details  then asks for the password. When I enter the Router password it does not accept. I am perplexed, especially as since i purchased this TV, about 2 years ago it has always connected with the Wi Fi, until the new roiutwr was installed

Hi @HalcyonDays

See if the following helps

How do I reset my Wi-Fi password on my LG TV?

To reset the Wi-Fi password on your LG TV, you generally need to follow these steps:

  1. Access the network settings: Using your TV remote, navigate to the Home or Settings menu on your LG TV.
  2. Open the network settings: Look for the “Network” or “Network Connection” option in the menu and select it. This will take you to the network settings screen.
  3. Choose the Wi-Fi network: In the network settings, you will see a list of available Wi-Fi networks. Select the network you want to connect to or update the password for.
  4. Forget the network: Once you have selected the desired Wi-Fi network, you should see an option to “Forget” or “Remove” the network. Choose this option to remove the saved network configuration from your TV.
  5. Reconnect to the Wi-Fi network: After forgetting the network, select the same Wi-Fi network again from the available list. This will prompt the TV to request the new Wi-Fi password.
  6. Enter the new Wi-Fi password: When prompted, use your TV remote or the on-screen keyboard to enter the new Wi-Fi password. Make sure to enter it accurately.
  7. Confirm the new password: Once you have entered the new password, select “OK” or “Connect” to confirm the changes.
  8. Test the connection: The TV will attempt to connect to the Wi-Fi network using the updated password. If successful, you should see a confirmation message or an indication that the connection is established.

Hi Again @HalcyonDays

If you cannot still connect your TV by Password then use LG PBC (push button configuration.

Connect Via PBC
  • Select "Connect via WPS PBC" menu in Wi-Fi connection page of TV setting and click to start.
  • Now press WPS button motioned on your Wi-Fi router/access point (only if your device supports WPS function)
  • Now the TV will be connected to the router/access point on which you have pressed WPS button.

@HalcyonDays If you have the upright broadband hub SR203 the WPS  button is on the side of the router (the right hand side)

I may be a Sky Superuser but I am still just a Sky customer

Sky Q 2 TB (Silver)Box, 2 Mini boxes since June 2016, all connected by wifi
Sky Broadband Hub/SR203, Sky Ultrafast broadband
Ultimate on Demand, Q Experience/UHD, Sky Sports, Sky Cinema
LG 49SJ 810 V UHD TV, Google Pixel 7 Pro mobile

Re: New Router. TV will not connect to WiFi

Thank you both for your help. It seems that the WPS button solution has worked. Fingers Crossed
