HELP!!! tried sky technical support now 4 times and have an engineer booked for end of August but thats too far away. We have a sky Q box and 3 minis (one connected via ethernet) and others on wifi. Changed broadband from Sky to EE and told would be a plug and play 😞 !
Can connect all mini boxes together but they are still publishing the old wifi name and cant get this to update to the new EE router name and therefore use them as wifi hotspots. I have factory reset the mini boxes but they still are publishing a sky network name that wont connect.
Please help anyone.

Hi @Wilsonhome
You can forget about the SSID shown in your Q box settings. The Sky SSID refers to the Sky Q mesh that the Q boxes are using for their connection and not your Broadband network.
To what is the Ethernet mini connected and is your main Q box also on Ethernet?

Thank you for that. What password would I use to connect as the new EE router password wont connect. Thanks.
The mini box ethernet is connected in another part of the house and is itself connected to the internet but wont work as a wifi hotspot as only showing the old SKY wireless name

Sorry main box is connected wirelessly to the router as this was the only way it would connect

OK @Wilsonhome
Firstly on Non Sky Broadband minis will not connect to your network by Ethernet unless all Q boxes are on Ethernet. The only way to have one mini connected by Ethernet is to connect the Ethernet to your main Q box.
Forget about the Hotspots at the moment and try to get the boxes connected first.
First reset your broadband router.
On 3rd party broadband and your router does not have a reset button, reboot it by disconnecting the power lead for 30 secs and then reconnecting.
Wait until the router is completely back and running and then try a Network Reset found in main Q box Home - Settings - Setup - Network.
Highlight Status and then select Reset on the right hand side. Follow instructions to connect by WiFi to your router. Even if reset is not listed there is still an option to connect by WiFi to Sky or 3rd party router
On 3rd party (non Sky ) broadband then you need to enter the SSID and password for the router 2.4 Ghz WiFi band.
If you can get the main Q box connected post back and I will try to give you ideas to connect the minis.

Thank you. So the ethernet box is connected into the main box and it is working. All minis are connected and are showing ticks in network and sky Q main box connection. They also work for internet apps like BBC iplayer and the like.
The issue is that I want to connect other devices to the network created by the mini boxes and at the moment the SSID they are showing is a SKY one (ie the one that was the old sky broadband name) and not the EE one. I have tried connecting to them using the old password and and new password and they are not working.
Thank you for your help and guidance.

To use Q boxes as Hotspots on 3rd party broadband see the following link.

Just be aware that not everyone find this very reliable

Thank you - sorted it. Was looking for the wifi hotspot on / off on the mini boxes rather than the main one. Fixed now. Thanks agian.

On the main box go to network settings and turn the WiFi hot spots back on. It defaults to off when you change router to another provider. If you turn it back on it eventually after about 30mins should work the mini boxes as hot spots.
