Network connection issue to Sky Q box

I have just had the new white box router after upgrading my broadand package.  I have wifi connection to all my other devices however cannot get wifi to the sky box.  Normal sky channels working but cannot get any APP's.

I've used the Network Connection - reset  several times, turned on/off but nothing working.  Any ideas

Hi @Smudger4

If you have the latest Sky Max router then you need to connect it to to your Q box as if it is a 3rd party router.

This means you need to connect it to your Q box as follows.

First reset your broadband router by holding the Reset on the back of the router until the power light flashes green (about 10 seconds). Don't unplug or switch off your router while it resets. The power light will go green when it's done.
Wait until the router is completely back and running and then try a Network Reset found in Q box Home - Settings - Setup - Network.
Highlight Status and then select Reset on the right hand side. Follow instructions to connect by WiFi to your router. Even if reset is not listed there is still an option to connect by WiFi to Sky or 3rd party router
As the max router is like 3rd party  broadband then you need to enter the SSID and password for the router 2.4 Ghz WiFi band.

Thanks Oldfella, connecting via 3rd party router option worked for me

Re: Network connection issue to Sky Q box

I have the same problem. My new Samsung TV is connecting to the Vodaphone Wi-fi 6 (with booster) at 190 mbps down and 90 up. The Sky Q box receives between 5 and 23 mbps down! Watching Youtube and scrolling back or forwards is and always has been, a miserbly slow operation, having to hold the arrow down on the remote to get a crawl in either direction. However watching the app direct on the TV, it flies. My two Sky Q mini boxes were always eratic on connection and now won't locate at all. I'd forgotten we had them installed 8 years ago.

So at over £100 a month and an increase a few weeks back at 4 times that of inflation, I'm quitting after 27 years. I've bought an Arris Freesat 4k with a 2TB hard disk for recording and two Amazon Fire Sticks for the bedoom TV's to receive Apps direct (both TV's are pre- Smart).

A 'Paradigm Shift' of streaming v's subscription generally must surely gain momentum.
