NFL Bitesize

Hi

I have recorded NFL 1 hour Highlight programs which are linked to the next match in the series but when I watch the program off the planner it puts an entry for the same game into Recordings/Continue for a 15 minute "Bitesize" download of the same match. For example, I have just watched the highlights of Jets at Cowboys recorded on Monday at  8.00am and the box has set up a download of the bitesize aired Monday at 3:15pm. In previous seasons, I don't think these highlight programs were linked. Any way I can stop the box doing this? If I take the link off the 1 hour program I will lose the recording of the next 1hr highlight, which would be a nuisance as every week I would have to manually set up the highlight recordings of at least 5 matches a week, 3 on Monday, 1 on Tuesday and 1 on Friday, but, I guess I have done that in previous seasons of the NFL. It is beyond me why anyone would want to download a 15minute bitesize of the program they have just watched.

Fair comment @Tennisdad  Auto download next episode needs to be off  apologies if it's already set to off and Auto record series from catch up needs to be off as well

Home Settings Preferences  Auto download next episode Auto record series from catch up

Just set both to off and see what happens

@Tennisdad

Unfortunately those that set the series links do seem to do this.

I watch F1 &  a year or so ago they started to include the Highlights in the links & I think the same as you as to why anyone watching the full race/game etc would also want to watch the highlights mystifies me.

Although I guess it does give the option if you were away and then don't have time to watch full one afterwards

I just let the link do it's own thing and delete the highlights without watching

Re: NFL Bitesize

Thanks for the response @best+of+the+best

Both settings are ON, setting to off will probably have implications for other programs I record or download. Interestingly the download links for the Bitesize don't actually download until they are selected and it is a 'download' linked from a 'recorded' program not linked from a downloaded program. It didn't create a Bitesize link from the recording of the 1 hour Highlight progam this afternoon of the Thursday night game. I will perhaps reset the Settings on Monday and see what it does then.

Thanks for your input.

Unfortunately, I cannot delete the 15 minute Bitesize downloads without starting the downloads.

They do become not available after a month but one of them is annoyingly in 'Continue'. I get the feeling if I start the dowload and then delete it, it will pop the next episode into 'Continue', that would be classic Sky! They don't take up any disk space, just annoying.

Re: NFL Bitesize

@best+of+the+best

I put both settings to OFF last night and recorded and watched the 1hr highlights programs today.

Unfortunately, the 15min download links for these programs are still appearing in 'Available Now' but, not all bad, the link that was in 'Continue' has disappeared.

I am not that bothered about the links in 'Available Now' but the mystery is why one of them dropped into 'Continue' in te first place, if it hadn't I probably wouldn't have noticed them.

I will put the settings back to ON and await events. They really shouldn't have any effect as they refer to downloaded programs whereas my programs are recorded from a satelite transmission, but stranger things have happened.

Re: NFL Bitesize

@best+of+the+best

After watching some of this week's 1hr replays, my Q box has again deposited a download 'link' into 'Continue' and the collapsed listing for the 1hr recordings in 'Recent' is again titled NFL Bitesize. That is with both settings previously mentioned set to OFF. Very annoying.

It's really strange as  mine are set to off

I've tried to replicate what you are actually experiencing and I too find it annoying @Tennisdad

I'm trying the record once route for the 3 NFL Highlight games scheduled for Monday 9th October then add the series link later and see what happens next week

Re: NFL Bitesize

hi @best+of+the+best

Great minds, and all that!

That's pretty much what I am doing this coming week. I have watched all the 1hr programs to date so have deleted the collapsed listing. I started the 15min bitesize that was in 'Continue' and deleted it at the earliet opportunity as I don't see a way of deleting it without starting a download.

I now have a clean slate so have set up single recordings of all next weeks 1hr programs, removing any links.

This is pretty much what I have done in previous seasons except they didn't have links then.

I can envisage doing this for the rest of the season, I may possibly miss the odd match, but a small price to pay 🙂

Thanks for your interest.

Re: NFL Bitesize

@best+of+the+best

Isn't it odd how you can find the smallest thing so annoying.

My Sky Q box recorded the three 1hr highlight programs today but the collapsed listing is headed 'Bears @ Commanders Bitesize' !!! Bears@Commanders was the Thursday night match that I recorded and watched the 1hr  highlight program for on Friday and then deleted.

Same'ish for you?

Re: NFL Bitesize

Hi @Laing1

Very good question!

I didn't think of that, perhaps I should have.

Will try that next time I have watched all the recordings if my Q box hasn't gone out the window!

Thanks for your input.
