@Tonybottrill what do you mean no power socket do you mean there is no socket on the back to plug a cable into it or no cable where did you get the Sky Q box from ?

Phone Sky, unless you have bought it from somewhere else in which case return it.

The external PSU which @MightyQuinn and @bob1234 refer to is this one (part number SP171) :
The socket on the Sky box which the orange multipin electrical connection plugs into might be mistaken for an AV (S-video) port.

I have the same problem... replacement Sky Q 2TB box arrived, and requires a non-standard 12.25v DIN power adapter which wasn't supplied.
Now I'm trying to get a Sky engineer to return with the correct power connection.
New box is pictured. The power socket is now in the middle instead of at the far end.

Is this a replacement box for a previous faulty V2 box?
Assume you returned your previous box and sent back the cables, as Sky request. Normally to be done via a replacement box courier pick up.
Seems odd that Sky are sending out replacement boxes without power cables?

Just for information: we think that connection is there because the v1 box sometimes had an issue with overheating so Sky moved to an external transformer in the v2 but still wanted to keep the originally specified built-in Powerline networking available (although this was dropped in firmware long before the v3 box was released).
