Mini box states technical fault

Sky mini box shows technical fault. I have rebooted and it connects to internet and sky Q box. It shows list of programs that have been recorded but will not play them or display TV channels

Hi @KeithSydee 

First try rebooting the main Q box and then when this is completely back up and running reboot the mini.
To reboot press Standby on your Sky Q remote (if the box responds to the remote), and then switch off and unplug at the mains.
Wait at least 30 secs and then Plug back in and switch your Sky Q box back on at the mains.
Wait for the on screen instructions to disappear and the front led to turn Amber. Then wait for 30 secs before you press Home on your Sky Q remote or if this is not working press the standby button on the front of the Q box (Amber led)

note: some features may take up to 5 minutes to return.

Reboot the mini as above.
If the mini still does not connect reliably try a Network Reset on the mini.
Network Reset found in mini Home - Settings - Setup - Network.
Highlight Status and then select Reset on the right hand side. Follow instructions to WPS with main Q box.
You will be asked to press the WPS button on the main Q box (not the mini as the Network reset will start the mini WPS automatically).

If you are on Sky Broadband and the Router is nearer to the mini than the main box then you can try pressing WPS on the router instead of the main Q box. If you do this make sure you press the Sky router WPS button and not the router reset button.

I've been having this randomly over the past few months, starts in the afternoon about 3pm and last for about 10-12 hours, I've even unplugged and powered off the sky boxes, reset & rebooted router, both vm and bt as I have 1 for work, then plugged in and powered on the main sky box and waited 10 mins then powered on 1 akyq mini, waited 10 mins then the other mini, and within an hour the same erro appears. Getting well annoying now,

I have been experiencing the same issues. Can work ok for a few days then back to technical fault.  Sky engineer, last Thursday, on their 2nd visit replaced main sky q box and one of the mini boxes as they weren't displaying correctly on their scans, all was working ok for a few days then yesterday technical fault again!!! Has anyone had this problem resolved?

One of our mini boxes started doing this yesterday (2/2/24) have rebooted the main box and trued several times rebooting the mini box but still not working got to wonder if its a software update issue, currently waiting for update to download and install on main box though doesn't give a status on how long it's going to be.

I have had this issue for years. Engineers come out replace both boxes, wire them up with Ethernet cable but always days or weeks later same issue.

 

i have had nothing on my mini box for over a month now. 
I do factory reset on box boxes too and still get nothing.

 

once contract is up guess it's time to stream from a firestick

Another one that has minibox getting a technicial fault, can watch fine at times then it triggers. 

Film channels have also pixilated at times but other channels fine. 

Mini connects via WiFi

Rebooting main box works for a while

Software version Q270.000.08.00L (5U093C0)

Would not surprise me e if there is a bug in software causing this

Thanks for your replies.  I never did get the mini box problem resolved, so I gave up on Sky, once my contract was up.

I have three Sky Q mini boxes and only one started with the "Technical fault" message. Sometimes it works again the next day. All are connected via ethernet to the fibre router. I have tried all of the solutions suggested including forcing a software download. Makes no difference. Anyone any idea where the fault lies, is it the main box or is it the mini?

In the end an engineer had to come out and replace the main Q box ours was a first gen and had it for many years the HD had cooked its self and was causing the issue. Everything worked fine again when new box was installed.

Thank you. Will try to contact Sky tomorrow. My boxes are probably the first iteration.
