Making sure Sky send MDU engineer

Hi all - I have an issue with my Sky Q sat signal in my communal dish.

My gut feeling is that the SCR adapter thing to convert to a sky q signal in the communal dish cupboard has failed (this happened to me in the past) and needs replacing.

However I have an engineer visit booked but constantly get non MDU engineers turning up and advising they are not trained to fix and have to do a back and forth with sky to eventually get the right engineer out.

The Custkmer support agent booking the visit did not fill me with confidence that the right engineer would be coming - how can I double/triple check I actually get an MDU qualified engineer to come out to take a look?

@Redarmy22

Has your landlord or building management company not arranged this for you? They should be responsible for maintenance issues with the system.,

Re: Making sure Sky send MDU engineer

The adapter installed on the communal system (just for my feed) was installed by Sky (and last time it failed Sky repaired it when I called out an engineer)

Building management company happy to give Sky engineer access to the feed cupboard like last time - I just want to make sure the qualified person turns up!

Unfortunately the owner / maintainer of your communal Integrated Reception System will have no ability to arrange for a Sky Multiple Development Unit (MDU) trained engineer to check this Sky provided Unitron dCSS-422 Sky Q Plug - In adaptor.

If you can actually arrange to look at the installation of this device in the central distribution cabinet, it would be interesting to check how the adaptor which feeds your apartment has been connected to the legacy multiswitch because Alltrade have published this warning against installation of the Triax badged version of this device from adjacent multiswitch ports.

 "To avoid isolation issues between adjacent ports (now a known issue) please connect the unit to alternate ports of the multiswitch and not those adjacent."

Despite multiple attempts to achieve the ability for Sky agents to register the requirement for the attendance of a Sky MDU trained engineer, when individual subscribers attempt to make sure an engineer who has been specifically trained to work on communal IRS installation, actually turns up.

Thus, despite Sky having been informed of this communication failure multiple times, they choose to regularly waste both their basic engineers time, and totally ignore the frustration suffered by their communal subscribers.

As I understand it, if the basic engineer reports the requirement for a MDU engineer to their Team Manager, they can place an entry against your property on their copy of the Sky database, but alas it never seems to then be maintained as a permanent entry!

Thus, despite us asking multiple times, Sky have never implemented a method that allows Sky agents to book MDU engineers, even though only Sky MDU engineers should ideally be sent whenever the fault involves a communal IRS installation where Sky have installed their Unitron dCSS-422 Plug-In adaptor, which would appear to not have a high reliability history.
