Losing Sky Q box connectivity daily

Hello community,

I have discussed this problem before, but now it's becoming a joke, with my sky Q.. I have a connectivity issue daily on my Q box

or maybe 1 or 2 of my mini boxes saying same. We had 2 engineers out and all they said was we needed a new box as the hard drive was worn out of memory? As I'm not an engineer you don't question their expertise. Anyway to cut a longer story  short, we replaced the Q box with a new one. For 2 weeks we were spared the daily grind not having to switch off mains and reconnect Sky Q box. Happy days we though, problem solved! That was about 2 months ago, now we are facing the same old problem again , daily switching off the mains to get connected. There is no actually time it loses connection, it could morning afternoon or evening. I also turned off the Eco mode on TV when we got new TV 3 months ago, as we read this could be a issue with connectivity:) So for about 8 weeks we have to endure the daily losing connect to our NEW Sky Q BOX! I didn't see any sign these engineers checking out my dish, so is it possible the dish is the problem? We don't have anything blocking or natural obstacles like trees in the way and the weather can be sunny rainy cloudy or dry when we lose connectivity. No rhyme or reason to why it goes down. Any help appreciated as it is tiresome and frustrating daily losing connection for a subscription of just under 200 euros a month bundle of sorts:) Yes we have a router, should this be looked at also?

It's the eco mode on the Sky Q box that needs turning off entirely if that's causing the issue, not the TVs eco mode (that has no effect on the Sky box). Unless you're getting a 'no satellite signa' then it's nothing to do with the dish either.

It sounds more like a WiFi issue presuming the main Q box is using WiFi. Can you place the router nearer to the Q box with a clear line of sight? Using an ethernet cable would be ideal to be honest. Is it Sky broadband you have?

I hope the engineer didn't say 'as the hard drive was worn out of memory' though as that would worry me 😀

You mention Euro's are you in the RoI?

Re: Losing Sky Q box connectivity daily

Hi Me134,

Thanks for reply, where do you find Eco mode off/on switch on Sky Q box? Or is it via settings? Secondly, router is only 10 feet away from TV, it's wifi, we had super fibre installed 2 years ago, wires coming via outside meter box. Maybe someone needs to look at our wifi router or something else? Not possible to run ithernet cable across hall into TV room, means tripping over wire and leaving door open. I paid up for super fibre, so expect a better connection:)
