I think you can turn the hotspot feature off though.
Not if Sky is the ISP (except by disabling Q WiFi entirely and running the box(es) on ethernet)
Where there's a different ISP, an option setting appears.

@PandJ2020 that's absolutely ridiculous if it acts as my router without my permission. Set top boxes are kept for longer and more prone to faults. Unacceptable.
Also, the 'hotspot' option in the Sky Q settings seems to inexplicably appear then disappear, and is clearly set to 'off' whenever it appears. I would *never* turn this on. Why on earth would it be appearing and disappearing like this, and mirroring my router if never turned on by me?
After another reset, internet did not cut out last night. But is it something that will return, or doesn't happen every night, I do wonder...

@TimmyBGood He is correct (@Chodley), you can turn it off (if it was on) even if you have Sky broadband. However, as mentioned above, the hotspot option was available after a reset, then just disappeared. While it was available, it was clearly set to off and I'd never have turned this on. No one else touches the settings.

@Chodley even so, why would a hotspot suddenly die predictably at 2:45am, when all Eco options are off? A fault, if so, then fixable if it can be fixed. Unfixable = not acceptable.

It's called a default. No permission required...

@Chodley Post 18 was a response to your reply to the OP in Post 14, in which you said it also applied to the most recent post (mine).

@PandJ2020 Disgraceful. I got the Sky Q box, like any box, to view TV channels, and to use apps like YouTube or Amazon Prime. I did not install this in my home to act as a router, nor did I agree to that.

You're missing the point. A default doesn't require your 'permission'.

@PandJ2020 I did not agree to a TV set top box acting as a router! Nor would I ever! It's even worse that Sky *hides* this option if you're with Sky broadband! As someone who values internet quality and consistency, I would like to be aware and informed of where my internet signals are going! This may explain even more of certain bizarre happenings of my internet in other situations!
Had I known even the slightest indication of this, I may have made a completely different decision with a TV service or at least scrutinised the situation very thoroughly to ensure that the Sky Q box could be trusted to act as an extension to my router signals!
Yuck... to think that my internet and data has been moving through that unkempt piece of garbage all this time...
