Identifying S1 and S2 cables for Sky Q box

I've been sent a replacement Sky Q box for my faulty one. Unfortunately I was forced to disconnect the old one in a rush as the courier was rude but this means I cannot identify which cable needs to go in the Sat 1 and Sat 2 sockets on the new box. Both cables are exactly the same, no labels & both the same colour. How will I know which cable to plug into each socket?

Also, the original box had a single power cable with a blue end, this one has two separate cables with a box in-between, and what you plug into the rear of the box has a round end not a blue rectangular one, even the online instructions don't match this new box. It's also very noisy when I switch on the power, bit like a 747 taking off - should I be concerned?

It doesn't matter which way round the satellite cables go.

As for the power cable - you have been given a v2 box by the sound of it - they have this alternate type of power supply. It shouldn't make much difference, except if you had a v3 box before. They have the single power cable with the blue end and are slightly faster than the v2's. If you had a v1 box before then the v2 will be better.

The 747 noise is normal on a cold boot - it should settle down once it's updated the software but keep an eye on it.

Hi @sarah42g

It doesn't matter which cable goes into each input on the Q box.

Some 2 TB boxes do have the cables you describe.

Yes that's what I've got. I think the online set up instructions were for my old box

No real difference in set up @sarah42g

Just a different power configuration

Re: Identifying S1 and S2 cables for Sky Q box

Thanks, will just connect them up and not worry about the 1 and 2.
I'd had the old box since Sky Q first came out so assume it was V1. So long as this one allows me to record and not have an error message across the top telling me the hard disk is not working, I can cope with the 747 😂
