ITVX Slow response

I have been frustrated with the speed of ITVX on sky Q for a number of months. Several people have told me that it is because ITVX is on a slow server. 
I have since changed my television to a more up-to-date model and ITVX now works extremely well with the built-in Amazon fire. The speed of which the application loads is extremely quick together with the search facility. 

This tells me that the problem lies with Sky Q and possibly software that is becoming old and needs to be updated. I hope this answers a number of questions that people have posted recently.

I've been using ITVX on several devices since it launched.

Amazon Firestick seems best overall - although a couple of devices still don't have the live channels.

Although SkyQ has the live channels - it's overall load and menu speeds are dire.

ITVX is the worst app on Sky Q, it's very slow and clunky. Discovery+ is a close second.

The Sky Q system is coming up to a decade old now so a Fire Stick or similar device will always perform much better.

The itvX app has been really slow since it launched on SkyQ.  It is slow on main box but on mini boxes its even slower.

As I test I compared the times between the two devices I mainly use - Amazon Firestick and SkyQ main box V2.

I select Buffy s1 e1 as the test programme as it came top of the menu list each time so I didn't even have to search around for it. Time stops at point play back starts.

I also did the test with ITVX on each device, then used the device for another app, then went back and retried ITVX again.

Results are:
Amazon: 1st time: 32 sec. 2nd time: 12 sec
SkyQ: 1st time: 55 sec. 2nd time: 55 sec.

It seems SkyQ takes forever to load the images before you can progress. So it may not be the app navigartion itself which is the issue, but the loading of images.

I except SkyQ is older and slower - but ITVX is an exception on SkyQ being far slower than anything else.

Couldn't resist a stopwatch test. 31seconds including an age warning (it wasn't Buffy, whatever came top on mine)

I think ITV X is just a bad app AppleTV+ takes 24s. Netflix about 15 if you have to pick profile, then ~8 the next time when it is still in RAM and knows who you are.
