Hi
We no longer have HD, but we want to watch "The Ex-wife" which we recorded on C5HD and it said we must upgrade subscription to watch, so i searched it and downloaded what looked to be C5 i.e. NOT HD. However it again said we need to upgrade.
Oddly, we have got "The Motorway" diwnloaded which was on 5HD and we CAN watch this!
Advice appreciated.
Thanks

thanks @oldfella - yes that is what i thought, yet i can defintely view The Motorway on C5HD.
The question really is why when i download "The Ex wife" in nonHD format does it still say i need to upgrade subscription.
thanks
Hi @Collinsc
What is the channel number you are watching The Motorway?
Downloads in SD can be confusing.
If you do not have the Optional HD pack you need to change the Download to SD in All Formats (as HD is the default setting).
So that you do not need to do this every time it’s best to change your Download preference to SD in Home - Settings - Setup - Preferences.
This needs to be done on the main Q box.
Then if you want to download any HD content from free to air channels (BBCHD ,ITVHD etc) you can select HD in the All formats tab of the content . This will change the format for that particular download only but still leave your format to SD in preferences.

Hi @Collinsc
You certainly will not be able to view any HD content if you have removed your HD subscription.
Check the Download or recording tile synopsis and you will see if it is HD as there is an HD icon. SD content has no HD icon.

Channel 5 HD is free so recordings from that channel should play fine even without the HD pack.

The "ex-wife" though was also C5 HD and that said we needed to upgrade 🤷♂️

Channel 4 & C5 do ,however, I believe have a slight nuance.
I believe you can watch & record in HD without the HD add on but you cannot download in HD only SD unless you have the HD add on
