If your main box is not working  you should still be able to have Sky go. Possably you Skygo app is trying to connect to Sky box and because it's not working giving you the error message. If your Sky box is not working why not just switch it off completely. In other words unplug from  the mains  and wait for the engineer or replacement box. Now if you reset your Sky go app, it will no long be trying to connect to your box and should operate as if you were using out and about  and should get all your channels that you subscribe to, except the bbc channels for some reason they only appear it you are connected to the Sky box.

To get a Sky Box quickly, contact Sky and speak with someone. Chat doesn’t work as well, doesn’t pick up nuances and still doesn’t think out of the box. For example, I wasn’t offered the option of a new box instead of an engineer. Boxes are sent out for delivery the next day.

To obtain the phone number you need to go into your account, go through the help options, basically scroll through to the bottom of the page until you get to “Do you still need help?”. Answer Yes and avoid using Chat. (I guess using chat you could ask for a new box, but I didn’t know that) Persevere through the operator, if you cannot recall your telephone password it doesn’t matter.
Regarding SkyGo, this wasn’t fixed. Of note, I couldn’t remove any connected devices within my Sky account nor indeed change their name. However, I was told that SkyGo should work even without the main box connected to power or internet. So, we will see what happens later this week. I did have 3 devices connected - Oops.
Judging by the lingering smell in my lounge, at least one component within my Sky Q box has burnt out and the noisy fan and other things didn’t help. Maybe with all the rebooting, my SkyGo settings were corrupted?

I should add if my Sky box went faulty I have a Apple tv box as well and for some un be known reason  the Sky go is available on there, giving me all my channels. except bbc  though that on my normal tv. I have multisreen I could cancel my mini box and just watch on the Sky go app and reduce my cost if I wanted to

Go is available as an app for Apple TV boxes, but the Sky subscription must include Multiscreen, Whole Home or Sky Go Extra to use it.
