How old is this Q box?

Been given a replacement Q box.

It has a kind of chrome edge along the bottom and the power supply is different.

Our old one had the blue figure-8 power lead direct into the box, this one has a pink round multi-pin and a transformer.

It also didn't come with a voice remote, but I've paired our one to it.

Is this box newer or older than the one it's replaced??

That's a v2 main box from c2017 to c2019

It would be younger than a v1 but older than a v3, both of which use IEC C7 'figure-8' plugs.

Models can be confirmed using the table here:

BTW even if it is older than your previous box, SKY are under no obligation to replace it with a later one as you pay for UHD and even if upgraded to an HDR box both the V2 & V3 models are HDR capable

It should, however, have come with a voice remote - is it possible that the remote you got was a Voice remote but with a 'Voice' button on the top right side of the remote, rather than the newer versions with the bitton on the front ?

Re: How old is this Q box?

The voice remote we have already is a button in the side one.

Ive paired that as it works our TV and soundbar already.

im not sure where the voice button is on the remote we got with the replacement box today, its in the garage now along with the packing.

It may have originally shipped with a v2 Touch remote (now obsolete)

This should be replaced in refurbishment with a refurbished side-button Voice remote or a new front-button Voice remote.

Re: How old is this Q box?

The remote we have that works the TV and soundbar is the silver button model.

Ive paired that to the replacement box.

the replacement box did indeed come with the all black remote.

now I can't get the mini boxes to keep the link to thr replacement box. 😔

got them working last night by setting them up as new, woke up this morning and blue screens saying not connected to any network.

This hassle just makes me so angry and frustrated and I want to bin sky....
