Housing estate uses "See The Light" Satellite dishes not allowed

We've been using SKY Q and just changed our broadband to EE, now, however, we are moving to a housing estate where no satellite dishes are allowed. A company called "See The Light" connects users to various companys. Has anyone any experience where they to have to use see the light? I still want to use SKY Q, but may need to change to SKY Broadband. Early help would be good, we move Thursday!!!

Q only works with a dish.

From what I can STL only offer internet options, I.e. stream

STL used to offer Q: they still have a graphic for that at the top of their Sky FAQ, despite the content now being all about Stream...

Incidentally, See The Light is owned by Sky ; )

Where individual satellite dishes aren't permitted, and in the absence of a traditional communal dish and coaxial cable distribution system (typically found in flats) the alternative is satellite television over fibre, which is possible but requires specific dedicated local infrastructure and not just FTTP.  If the development you have moved into wasn't pre-cabled for such specialist distribution it's almost certainly not going to be available.

@Andyuk51   If you are lucky your new property will be one of the original estates where See The Light distributed satellite transponder signals over their fibre connection to your property, in which case it will resemble this illustration of a typical setup.

I recently moved to an new estate, where we had to use SeeTheLight and Sat dishes were not allowed

I used to have Sky Q and was told the only option was Sky Streaming.

I cannot tell you just how bad Sky Streaming is without lots of foul and abusive language. It is absolutely awful. 

I wish there was a solution. but seems I stuck with this  ******* **** for another 2 years

The fibre people, I've since found out, is OFNL and on their site they offer a few obscure companies to supply broadband, see the light being one. I think, after asking around, I'm going to go with Connexin.

@Andyuk51  Have you actually asked See The Light if they supply satellite transponder signals to your specific estate if you opt to have your broadband and satellite transponder signals supplied by them over the OFNL network.

Hi Godfrey, no, I havn't actually. The solicitor had noted in our sale that no dishes were allowed. I have spoken to SKY and they said that SKY Q can be used as long as we have an internet connection, and yes it is all fed through the OFNL network. According to the SKY customer support I spoke with there is some kind of central "dish" on the estate...maybe I got that wrong, but clearly the signal needs to get from "up there" to my place somehow!!. We can use recording and playback but not anything that requires streaming until the broadband is up and running...and THAT has been another story!!

Sorry, Godfrey I didn't look back far enough to see that diagram. I have seen one of those boxes in your illustration from OFNL. I'm not sure if its the Quad one though. We do have a SKY engineer coming to the property on Tuesday though.

That's somewhat mangled: Q generally cannot work 'as long as we have an internet connection' but as noted above, OFNL/STL is a particular exception as long as the specialist satellite signal distribution hardware is in place on the site in question alongside normal broadband.

That makes sense. I spoke to 3 different organisations and all were vague. I should have spoken with the company that deals with the estate I'm moving to.
