Hard wired Internet issue with Q box.

I've had sky q for years now, the WiFi was sketchy, so I got a cable between the Q box and my router, Internet works fine on it most of the time, however. 

The problem is when ever the router is rebooted, the sky q box won't reconnect to the Internet automatically, or by doing anything with the network settings on the q box including a reset, the only way sky q will get back on line is by powering it down at the mains, and powering back up.

 

Only thing I haven't tried is setting it to a static IP address and using mac reservation in my router so only the q box can use the specific IP address maybe 🤷🏻‍♂️

Caveat: this is weird behaviour but I expect nothing else from Q's networking

 

But

 

How often do you reboot your router? I think mine's been switched on since this connection was installed.

My router and broadband is not with sky, just to clarify. 

 

But back to your question. 

I've set it up to reboot every couple of days. 

I'm trialling something on my network, but the issue has been present with the Q Box for years, even when I had a standard BT router. 

Its just more annoying now as I have the reboot schedule. 

 

Does the same thing after a power cut.

Everything else works except the sky q connection to the Internet. 😂

Hi @daiashthomas 

Obviously you cannot do this if have any mini boxes on WiFi,   but have you turned Off both bands of WiFi on the Q box?

If you haven't and have no minis:-

Carry out a Network reset with the Ethernet connected.

Network Reset found in Q box Home - Settings - Setup - Network.
Highlight Status and then select Reset on the right hand side. Select connect wired to non Sky Router.

Do not carry out any WPS and just wait for the box to connect. It may take a couple of minutes. If it does not connect there is an issue with the Ethernet connection.
As soon as it connects go into the Q box hidden menu and turn off WiFi.

To enter hidden menu press Home and navigate down to Settings but do not select Settings.
With Settings highlighted press 0 0 1 Select.
Go to Network to turn off both bands of WiFi. Confirm before exit.

No mini boxes, no wps on my router (I've disabled it)

I found out about the 001 service menu earlier, disabled both bands. 

Will try it again in the morning, there's a reboot scheduled at 2am on my router, so I'll see if the Q box has an Internet connection in the morning, and report back.
