The HD quality is inferior to the HDR (and UHD) quality. What were you expecting?

Re: HDR/UHD

I was expecting a excellent picture quality with HDR/HD what I wasn't expecting was a washed out HD picture quality when I switched back to HD which made me think sky might be producing a inferior HD or something wrong with the sky Q box so I was enquiring if anyone else had experienced this before

Hi @Union+Bear   HD does not have HDR.

You are not reading the question correctly I mentioned when I watch sky sports HDR/UHD channel and then switched to the sky sports HD channel the picture quality is very poor in comparison I expect the picture quality to be much higher but don't think the HD picture quality should be so inferior that you could almost compare it to SD

Hi @Union+Bear   There is no HDR with HD on Sky Q.

Someone else reported the other day that some HD quality was low.  Obviously we have no insight into how Sky allocate bandwidth to individual channels.

I am just another Sky customer and my views are my own even if you don't like the answers

Sorry I'm completely confused. HD (SDR) is about 1/8th the resolution and arguably 1/4 the contrast and colour range of UHD/HDR and you didn't expect it to be much poorer quality? I think you meant it that way round anyway - what did you think UHD was bringing to the table then, if not much higher quality?

It could be said that HD might be better if given a bit more bandwidth but these things are a cost trade-off and 4k blurays are far superior to standard blurays too and the latter are 1080p, not 1080i like broadcast HD.

There's still a significant difference from SD. Have you tried playing with the TV settings to see if you can rescue the HD picture a bit?

Re: HDR/UHD

I'm very impressed with sky main event picture quality but when you change channel to sky sports HD it is not the same quality as it used to be are sky doing this to sky Q customers to encourage them to change to sky stream
