Getting a news clip
Im looking to record off a news clip .
I'm trying to spilt the sky signal to record
First thing is I put a cable into the port of the sky box . I then connected it to hdmi splitter . I put the sky cable into the option side of the splitter. I have picture on the tv when I do it. The power light is on (red) the the blue light beside it. the blue light is on the opposite side of the splitter, is also workinng. the other available side I put a cable into it to connect to a capture card. Now the blue light doesn't come on her . the red light is on the capture card .
any idea how to address this??

Re: Getting a news clip
The signal is likely to be HDCP protected (so you can't record it, legally).

Re: Getting a news clip
If you have a Q Mini box then that has an analogue socket which may be more amenable to output capture: as @PandJ2020 indicates HDMI typically has digital copy protection specifically to prevent what you are trying to do.
To use a Mini you'd need a Nokia CA-75U adapter and a suitable input device.
BT Halo 3+ Ultrafast FTTP (500Mbs), BT Smart Hub 2

@fada although note it may also have Macrovision style copy protection - I know when I tried it with a programme it triggered the copy protection on my hdd/dvd recorder
