Free channels breaking up.
Hi,
My free channels uch as BBC1 HD, 2HD, ITV and especially Channel 5 are breaking up, other Sky channels are fine. Signal strength and quality are 80 and 90 respectively. I've changed the coaxial cable too a decent quality o e too all to no avail.
Is my box failing or could it be an issue with the dish/LNB, although I'd have thought all channels would be affected?
I'd appreciate you views and expertise before contacting Sky.
Thanks.

The signal strength / quality status displayed by your Sky Q receiver will only be showing the signal strength / quality of the default Tp3 satellite transponder signal and not the transponder that is being used by any channel that you are presently viewing.
Your problem might well be due to the satellite dish alignment no longer being correctly optimised.
This chart illustrates the typical reception degradation when a Sky Zone 1 minidish is incorrectly aligned.
When you state that you have replaced the coaxial cables from the dish wideband LNB with 'decent quality' coaxial cable, can you confirm that you have used either CT63 / WF65 or CT100 / WF100 coaxial cable.
Godfrey.

Re: Free channels breaking up.
It is very likely to be a fault with the dish. It's normal for only some channels to be affected when the dish is slightly out of alignment.

Many thanks, I'll get someone to check the dish.
