Film 4 no longer available on sky platform

Why are Sky not officially giving a reason why Film 4 is longer available on its platform. Perhaps their customers should have a look at other suppliers.

hi @Hillfort

Film 4 is available (in HD)  - on my SKY Q box it is on channel 313 - I guess it may be different on SKY +

Channel 4 are cutting costs and stopped some of its SD versions via Satellite (this is nothing to do with SKY itself)

Works just fine for me too.

SD version is on 855?

@Hillfort what issue are you having, perhaps it's a dish alignment problem?

@Hillfort

Works fine here on Sky Q so what's happening when you try to view it?

If Sky are cutting back on SD channels so  customers have to upgrade their package they should at least inform their customer officially of this.

@Hillfort

Costs will be governed by Channel 4 not Sky.

Re: Film 4 no longer available on sky platform

  • I have Sky Q. film 4 and +4 were on channels 313 and 314 but now they say No Satellite signal. All other SD channels are OK. I do not have the HD upgrade. I do not see why you get HD on many channels but you are expected to pay an additional sum for say Fim 4 and the sky channels.

Sounds like you possibly have a dish alignment issue as opposed to some conspiracy.

Because that's built into the business model, and would require a substantial increase in the base subscription to replace the lost revenue if removed.

Re: Film 4 no longer available on sky platform

Hi yes, all film 4 and +4 SD channels state no satellite signal but all other channels are OK. Do not have HD upgrade so do not know if the problem is on HD here as well.

@Hillfort
If you are seeing a message of “no satellite signal” firstly check that the connections from the Sky dish going into the back of your Sky Q box are still finger tight. Otherwise it’s almost certainly a dish alignment issue so check the troubleshooting in the link provided by @PandJ2020

It may then give you the opportunity to arrange an engineer to check the alignment of your dish. If it doesn’t you’ll need to contact Sky to book an engineer appointment.

If you are connected to a communal dish you need to liaise directly with your building management company / landlord who will have their approved engineers to contact.

It’s worth remembering that a misalignment is not necessarily something that will be visible to the naked eye and could only affect one or two channels.

@Hillfort  Channel 4 and it's sister channels such as Film 4 are not Sky channels.

Sky have no control over any channels other than the ones called Sky (in the main)

Like you I'm a customer here, Sky Employees are clearly identified as such.
