Fast fire
We have recently been updated to FF in our area and our landline doesn't work. Advice is plug phone into back of router, but we don't have a BT socket on our router. We upgraded Sky a few years ago and were sent a Sky Q router, which we didn't install as we didn't need to. We still have the Q router. In the Q box, a new micro filter was included which has a BT socket and a hub socket. Is the simple solution just use that filter and plug both hub and phone in?

Re: Fast fire
No: once the circuit has been been provisioned on Sky Talk Internet Calls you need a Sky Hub model with a built-in socket (because it's actually the interface for an internal Analogue Telephone Adapter) if you wish to access the bundled Sky voice service.
Those are the Sky Broadband Hub, Max Hub and Gigafast+ Hub

Re: Fast fire
The microfilters are to plug into legacy copper lines. As noted, you need a router with the necessary socket.

Re: Fast fire
OK. Thanks. So would the SKY Q router we were sent do the job, albeit about 3 years ago and never used?

Re: Fast fire
The Q Hub is from 2016 and doesn't contain an ATA (which is one reason they are now obsolete and being withdrawn from service)

Re: Fast fire
That would be very unusual on any recent provisioning: analogue telephone service is due to cease nationally in January next year.
It's the only option on Sky FTTP.

Re: Fast fire
The OP says that your 'landline' doesn't work. I'm presuming this was following the change to FF?
If Sky were supplying your telephony then they still should, but via the router (VOIP).

Yes, surprised one wasn't required for the switch... But give Sky a call...

@WoodyDaave When you say you were sent a Q router a few years ago was this when you upgraded your Sky box to a Sky Q box ? or have you had your Q box for longer.
do you have a picture of the router you were sent a few years ago ?

Re: Fast fire
If you have a Q Hub, Sky should already have been in touch about replacing it.
You can insist on receiving a Sky Broadband Hub free of charge: they'll probably want you to pay a subscription supplement to get a Max Hub.

This may be stupid question but you mention a" BT socket" is your land line with BT or Sky? The reason for asking if you line is with BT now they have switched over to digital though broaband, if you do not have BT broadband but have Sky broadband you will no longer be able to have a BT land line as that service is now only available with BT broadband with there broadband hub.
Therefore this is the case you will need to change to sky for your landline which should already be part of you sky broadband subscription as Sky talk is now standard inclusion with Sky broadband as pay as you service and just need to get the correct Sky broadband hub with a phone socket on it , and would thought that Sky should have sent you new broadband hub when they upgraded your broadband subscription to full fibre.
Also if was BT that was supplying you land line you need to cancel that service with BT.
